I read and write mostly for entertainment and I particularly enjoy Snape centric or Snape/Granger stories. However, I'll read anything where the characters are portrayed as real and not as cardboard cut outs. I don't mind a good parody or crossover, either.

Hello! I'm AlbaLark: scientist, poet, singer of Scottish Gaelic, married mother of one, constant reader and lover of the written word. I came to the Harry Potter stories in 1998 when I wanted to read them myself before I gave them to my nieces to read. However, I am a very latecomer to the fan fiction world - I stumbled upon the mother lode here at KIA only just last year! I truly had no idea what I was missing. I find myself in continual awe of all the brilliant writers out there who have made this world their own, and in many ways much richer, more inventive and even more magical than the original stories.
I am pairings neutral, enjoying both het and slash. My favorite character is the amazing Severus Snape, so my focus is likely to be stories involving him in some way. That said, I love a well-written story, no matter who the main characters are, so I am game to read pretty much anything in the fandom.
I write myself, and have a pretty good idea about what I'm looking for when I read fan fiction that I might consider rec-ing. Complex, true-to-themselves characters, imaginative plots, believable situations and dialog and elegance of writing style are all important to me. Category doesn't matter, just the excellence of the story as a whole. I'm pretty picky - expect me to rec things that might earn an 'E' or and 'O' from the Snarky One himself ;-) .

I'm a writer/editor, husband and father of two, living in Northern California, Land of Eternal Moderation. I got sucked down the rabbithole into HP fandom in 2004 while doing research for a book that I was editing. (Honest! I was working!) Since my kids were moderately obsessive HP fans, I knew and loved the books already... And then I came across a bunch of incredibly well-written slash/femmeslash fics by an author named Mieko and it was all downhill from there. I discovered that while I'll read just about anything good (and non-Draco-centric—I'm not very fond of young Master Malfoy), as I write I mostly prefer canon-based fics. Harry/Ginny is my OTP. (And I often add Luna into the mix—hey, Harry/Ginny/Luna is still sort-of-canon, right?) I've been known to venture into gen and lots of other pairings, including R/Hr, Ron/Luna, Harry/Luna, Ginny/Luna, Pansy/Luna (I love Luna!), Ron/Pansy, H/Hr/R, Neville/Susan... I'm even working on a Harry/Neville bit. So I'd like to think of myself as broad-minded. ;-)

I was initially drawn to the Harry Potter fandom after reading the books to my children, but then I discovered its fan-fiction and I was captivated. I have read a broad spectrum of fan-fiction stories within the Potterverse. Although there are two pairings which I consistently write: HG/SS, and HG/DM, with some degree of success, there are excellent stories in all pairings, written by some of the most remarkable writers I've been lucky enough to read.

*waves* Hi, I'm Britt! I'm married, mother of one and owner of a cat. I'm also a Harry Potter addict. I first read books 1-4 shortly before the first movie was released and I was completely hooked. I picked the books up as a precaution to make sure that the material would be suitable for my 6 year old daughter, but I fell in love with the entire HP world. I was familiar with fanfiction from previous fandoms, so as soon as I was done with the books, I went looking for HP fanfiction. My reading is primarily Hermione-centric with my favorite pairings being HG/DM, HG/SS and HG/HP. However, I also read quite a bit of the Hermione/Weasley pairings.

I'm a 30-something wife and mother of two with an educational and professional background in writing. I discovered Harry Potter in 2000 and began reading the fanfic in 2004. Although I'm particularly fond of the canon pairings, I will read just about any het or gen fic that maintains a certain level of excellence in the characterizations, plot and writing. I have dabbled in writing, but not in the HP fandom. I've been rec'ing fics on my own LJ to friends for a few years, so it should be fun to expand to a broader and more diverse audience!

HBP made Snape intriguing to me and caused me to look into the fandom. At first, I was squicked at the very concept of Snape and Hermione as a pairing, but its fanfic won me over, and I have found it has the by and large some of the best storytelling in the fandom and most of my stories are in that pairing. I also greatly enjoy a good DM/HG (and have even written one) but will try reading almost anything, even slash, if the mood strikes me.

My name is Jessica. I'm 27 - married to a very handsome Mountie and I have 3 children.
I am addicted to the Potterverse (I'm particularly partial to Draco) and I ship Draco/Ginny, though I began life as a Canon!Shipper (primarily Harry/Ginny). Now I am fully on the Darkside - I am a Slytherin lover and my second favourite ship is Luna/Blaise (but I like lots of other ships, like Harry/Pansy, Fred/Katie, Tracey/Greg and Hermione/Cedric for example).
I play Tracey Davis at the online rpg E Pur Si_Muove (thankfully a D/G compliant game) and yeah... I'm your D/G reccing girl! ;)

I have been in the HP fandom since 2001, and since almost the beginning, I've been drawn to one ship. I'm very SS/HG centric although I will read outside the ship if the writing is good enough. I find it easier to read SS/someone than HG/someone. I'm very picky about style and story. If I rec a story, I'm going to rec for character development, story development, description, dialogue, and plot. I won't focus much on punctuation or capitalization in my comments, but I also won't rec something that is unreadable. Think of me as the one of the hardest to please critics in the fandom. I won't always write the nicest review, but if I rec a story, then the story is one I do find excellent on many levels.
I've spent most of my time in the fandom as a fanfic reader, however, I have written a couple short stories (one-shots): one in 2001 before I had studied the craft of writing and one in 2006.

I'm a teacher, writer, editor, SPAG junkie, dyke. I've been writing HP fanfic since 2008, mostly McGonagall-centric. Although I'm a huge McG fangirl (preferably femmeslash, with a soft spot for McGonagall/Snape and McGonagall/Moody), I'll read (and rec) good stories featuring any characters. I like complex, in-character fics written for grown-ups; I'm partial to angst, but there are very few genres or tones or scenarios that I won't at least try reading. Most (though not all) of my recs focus on older members of the HP universe and/or on less-common pairings. You won't get much SS/HG or Snarry or H/D from me, but I never say never.

I've been in HP fandom since 2003, and I love reading and grouping fics by theme or significant detail, and so I keep long themed lists of HP fiction on my LJ. I read and rec mostly slash; I read mostly Snape/Harry and Harry/Draco, but I'm not an OTP kind of reader, so there are lots and lots of other pairings, gen, and even a bit of het I read.

I have been reading fanfiction for nearly three years now. I think I have a good eye of what makes a well put together fic so I'm happy to be on board as a rec'er!
My One True Paring is Ron/Hermione. Something about them together just makes me feel all warm and snuggly inside. It's funny, I can read fic's with Hermione paired with other people as the main ship, but I don't like to see Ron with anyone else. Honestly, if the fic is well written, believable and does not rely on the standard cliche of the characters, then I'll read any ship. I'm more partial to post Hogwarts fic's. I think it's because I know we will get little to no clue what these characters are going to do after the 7th book...and we all want to know!

Even though I've loved the books for years, I came to fandom quite late (March 2007) and only discovered fanfiction in January 2008. When I realised there was a lot of really good fanfiction about my OTP, Harry/Ginny, I was hooked. I will read most canon pairings, but unless it's Harry/Ginny it has to be really good to keep my attention.

I generally believe that I'm too dull for profiles, but hold on to my hand and we'll get through this together.
Primarily an SS/HG shipper, but I'm open to anything as long as it's unique and/or well-written and/or humorous, with a recent fondness for Snuna and LM/HG. (Brevity is indeed the soul of wit—or perhaps laziness.)
