This is a well thought-out story. There’s a detective sub-plot with attempted murder, theft, withheld information and misanderstandings. There’s very interesting Slytherin house post-war dynamics. There’s a marvelous “locked in a room” scene. There’s a very thoroughly written Lupin in whose perspective the story is told. It allows the author to play with how much is hidden from her readers. I wouldn’t say the Lupin here is my favourite version of him because I don’t like characters in denial, wherever their denial is directed. But despite it, I really enjoyed the fic. SS/RL
